(Confessions of St. Augustine is a special class taught only by Sr. Prudence Allen, RSM, Ph.D. in Denver, CO)
Confessions of St. Augustine: St. Augustine's Confessions was written in 397-8, ten years after he was baptized at the age of 33. A literary masterpiece, it is considered to be the first autobiographical work of the West; it is also often considered the first existential work because in it Augustine reflects on his own existence, full of drama and full of struggle to respond to the call to conversion. For ENDOW the Confessions will be a personal journey into the depths of the human heart and the soul of a great saint---a man who had sinned seriously through addiction but who never stopped searching for the truth. And when he found it, he engaged every effort of will and prayer to turn himself around to follow the path that God had in mind for him from all eternity.
