Sr. Prudence in Detroit

Detroit Women's Conference

On Saturday, October 27, the Archdiocese of Detroit held its fifth Annual Catholic Women's Conference.  Almost 2,000 women of all ages and states in life, including young adults, were present.  One of ENDOW's advisors, Sr. Prudence Allen, RSM, was a keynote speaker.  She presented on "Women's Vocations in Friendship and Love," based on Pope Benedict's first encyclical, Deus Caritas Est.

The conference, "Women Encountering Christ in Friendship and Love" included a morning prayer service, Mass celebrated by Detroit Auxiliary Bishop Daniel Flores, eucharistic adoration, Benediction, and a variety of presentations. Other speakers included Immaculée Ilibagiza, author of the best-selling book, Left to Tell, Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust; Patricia Cooney-Hathaway, Ph.D., associate professor of Spirituality and Systematic Theology at Sacred Heart Major Seminary; and Bishop Flores.

An important aspect of the conference is to encouage faith-enrichment.  The Archdiocese of Detroit sees ENDOW as a great resource and ministry to direct women to following their annual conference.  All participants were directed to learn more about ENDOW and begin ENDOW groups in their respective areas.  Many women already involved in one of the over 20 ENDOW groups in the Archdiocese of Detroit served on this conference to promote and support ENDOW.  Thank you!
